A new generation of independent Colombian fashion businesses is coming to New York.
Seven brands from Bogotá — Ciento Cinco Lunares, Clarissa Rosania, Day Moda Sostenible, Franchi e Punto, Liza Herrera, TAN BASICX and OVAT — will participate in the New York edition of [PUENTE] Internacional, an initiative of The Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá, supporting Colombian companies as they strengthen their international capabilities and develop opportunities in global markets.
Together, the brands offer a window into an evolving fashion ecosystem where design, craftsmanship, manufacturing capability, responsible production, material innovation and commercial strategy increasingly converge.
Their propositions range from premium leather footwear and technically developed knitwear to contemporary tailoring, natural fibers, reinterpreted denim and experimental fashion and biodesign. Across the group are businesses working with reclaimed and upcycled materials, natural fibers, circular design principles, micro-batch production and emerging biomaterials—including materials developed from kombucha cultures.
For the New York edition, The Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá has brought together specialized partners across different components of the program. FDLA supports fashion curation and runway activities, while Bedrock World and HOUSE OF NOMADS support the PR and commercial landing strategy, focused on expanding market exposure, industry engagement and commercial opportunities for participating brands. I-Voice contributes specialized public relations and communications expertise as part of the PR team.
A New Breed of Brands
The opportunity represented by these businesses extends beyond bringing Colombian design to an international audience.
It reflects a broader evolution taking place across fashion: a move from thinking about individual supply-chain functions toward building an integrated value chain in which design, materials, product development, manufacturing, responsible production, distribution and the end consumer are increasingly connected.
For the U.S. market, nearshoring can add another dimension to that model.
Colombia’s geographic proximity to the United States, together with its manufacturing capabilities, specialized craftsmanship and creative talent, presents opportunities for businesses seeking closer production relationships, greater agility and differentiated product.
At the same time, independent brands can provide a platform for preserving specialized skills, supporting local manufacturers and artisans, developing new materials and creating economic activity within the communities involved in making their products.
For Sylvia Reyes of Bedrock World, these elements point toward a different model for building fashion businesses.
“We see a new breed of fashion businesses emerging,” said Sylvia Reyes of Bedrock World. “These are brands asking different questions—not only how do we design something beautiful, but where does the material come from, who makes it, what economic value does its production create, what can be recovered or reimagined, and how can we bring that product to market responsibly?”
“When you connect nearshoring and strong production capabilities with craftsmanship, upcycling, natural fibers, material innovation and commercial strategy, you begin to see what an integrated fashion value chain can become. The opportunity is to create a model where independent businesses and producing communities can grow, industry partners and retailers gain differentiated product, and the consumer receives something genuinely valuable. That is the win-win-win we want to help build.”
From Supply Chain to Value Chain
Working alongside Reyes, Beatriz Galliano and HOUSE OF NOMADS bring experience across product development, sourcing, manufacturing, supply chain, market development and commercial strategy to support the commercial landing.
The philosophy is straightforward: a supply chain moves product; an integrated value chain creates value.
That value begins with the independent business but can extend through the mills, manufacturers, artisans, specialized suppliers, logistics providers and creative professionals involved in bringing the product to market—and ultimately to retailers and consumers.
For HOUSE OF NOMADS, the opportunity lies in helping connect those pieces: product development, sourcing, manufacturing, responsible production, nearshoring, pricing, wholesale readiness, distribution and market strategy.
“Where and how a product is made is increasingly part of its value proposition,” said Beatriz Galliano, Founder of HOUSE OF NOMADS. “Independent brands don’t need to compete solely through volume. Great design, exceptional quality, craftsmanship and the right production capabilities can create meaningful differentiation. When those elements are supported by a strong commercial strategy and selective distribution, the result can create value throughout the chain—including for the end consumer.”
Rethinking Materials, Production and Economic Value
Several of the participating businesses demonstrate how independent brands can experiment with different approaches to materials and production.
Ciento Cinco Lunares operates at the intersection of visual art, fashion, craft and biodesign. The brand works with reclaimed inputs, handmade processes and micro-batch production, while experimenting with biomaterials developed from kombucha cultures.
Day Moda Sostenible uses limited and reclaimed textiles, transforming denim through Colombian cultural references, architectural construction and manual intervention.
TAN BASICX centers its proposition on hemp and other natural fibers, longevity and circularity, while producing through a women-led workshop model.
Other participating businesses bring different capabilities to the ecosystem.
Franchi e Punto contributes more than 48 years of knitwear expertise, proprietary jacquards and technical development from yarn through finished garment.
Liza Herrera combines contemporary footwear design with Colombian leather craftsmanship and handmade processes, supported by direct control over development and quality through its own facility.
Clarissa Rosania brings decades of luxury womenswear experience, translating refined construction, craftsmanship and tropical Latin American identity into a contemporary luxury proposition.
OVAT explores a contemporary interpretation of power dressing through architectural structure, transformation, femininity and versatility.
Together, they demonstrate that responsible fashion does not need to follow a single formula. Innovation can emerge through materials, manufacturing, craftsmanship, durability, local production, circular thinking, technology and new approaches to how products are developed and brought to market.
A Win-Win-Win for the Fashion Ecosystem
For independent businesses and producing communities, international growth can create economic opportunity, employment, stronger manufacturing relationships and continued demand for specialized skills and craftsmanship.
For retailers and industry partners, emerging international brands can offer something increasingly valuable in a homogenized marketplace: discovery and differentiation.
Distinctive aesthetic design, exceptional quality, craftsmanship, authentic stories and more selective distribution can give retailers products that consumers cannot find everywhere.
And for the end consumer, that value becomes tangible: beautifully designed, high-quality products with greater individuality, craftsmanship and connection to the people and processes behind them.
The opportunity is therefore not simply to export more product.
It is to build a fashion ecosystem in which responsible production and economic development can coexist with commercial viability, compelling design and meaningful consumer value.
From New York Visibility to Commercial Landing
The New York experience is being developed to extend beyond participation in a single event.
As part of the commercial landing strategy, Bedrock World and HOUSE OF NOMADS are developing additional points of industry engagement around the participating brands, designed to expose them to market intelligence, wholesale strategy, commercial prospecting and relevant relationships within the U.S. fashion ecosystem.
The objective is to help brands better understand how international markets operate while creating additional opportunities for meaningful industry interaction.
Visibility is the beginning. The larger opportunity is turning exposure into relationships—and relationships into sustainable commercial growth.
